The first thing i thought when I opened the package was - "WOW, this binocular is really tiny". I had not expected it to be this small. I am an avid birder and wanted to try it out at once. So off I went bird hunting with my Bushnell and i was really awestruck by the power this little guy packs in. The images are nice, bright and crisp. I was amazed at the 10x magnification. I was looking at some humming birds around 40 feet away and for the first time it looked like a completely different bigger bird with the same colours :-). It is however pretty difficult to hold this tiny guy steady enough with the 10x magnification. I would advice the 8x to anyone who is buying it for birding. The eye relief for this binoc is not excellent, you have to have your eyes aligned straight and as close to the eyepiece as possible other wise you tend to lose a lot of field of view. You do have soft roll back eye cups, but I advice you to keep them on since it prevents lens smudging. The binocs come with only eyepiece caps, I wish it had caps for the objective lenses too.

Overall a very good quality compact binocular delivering quality images all the way.

A nice little pair of binoculars.

A nice little pair of binoculars. I particularly like their contoured shape, which makes for a secure grip and a very comfortable feel. These will be a welcome companion on hikes in the woods, as well as trips to the theater.

br /A technical note which you should feel free to ignore: The Tech Talk section of the Product Description above claims that "Porro prism binoculars [like these] provide greater depth perception. . ." That statement may not be strictly true. What I see with these is an effect that 3-D photographers used to call "cardboarding," in which the apparent depth of an object is "compressed" along the line of sight. For example, a tree trunk looks flat rather than round, as if it were a cardboard cutout. This distortion is particularly noticeable in nearby objects. The effect may be due to the high magnification combined with the fact that the objective lenses are closer together than the eyepiece lenses, just the opposite of the situation in normal [non-miniature] binoculars, where the objective lenses are further apart than the eyepieces.

great product - great value!

Having lost or broken several pairs of expensive compact binoculars in the past, I was determined that this time I was going to get a product that wouldn't break my heart or my wallet when it was gone. When I opened the package I was impressed with the hefty feel and rubberized coating of the Powerview. The optics are crystal clear and light gathering capability seemes to be excellent. These binocs should be fine for everything from birding to ballgames to spying on the neighbors! As for the price, as clumsy and forgetful as I am I should have bought two!
